FREE A Natural History of Bums with the Crab Museum (age 5-10)

  • Turner Contemporary - Clore Learning Studio Rendezvous Margate, England, CT9 1HG United Kingdom (map)

Where do bums come from? Why are they important? Do all animals have a bum? Why are bums so funny? Join Margate's own Crab Museum as they attempt to answer most of these questions in their new book A Natural History of Bums. Travel back to the bumless beginnings of life on Earth and explore how bottoms blossomed on many branches of the animal kingdom. Take a deep dive into dinosaur bums. Wonder at wombat bums. And find out why your very own human bum is so special.

Crab Museum, Margate, is run by Ned, Bertie and Chase, but more importantly, it is Europe's first and only museum dedicated to the humble decapod. Crabs are a sideways-scuttling guide not just to the history of life on Earth, but also its future – from capitalism to climate change, there's nothing that can't be understood through the lens of these fascinating crustaceans. With inventive exhibits that combine humour, science and philosophy, the award-winning Crab Museum pursues the noble claws of seeking to understand the natural world, and through it, ourselves.
