Penguin 90th anniversary Little Book Stop installed in Margate

We’re very excited to bring a Little Book Stop book-sharing box to Margate as part of Penguin Books’ 90th birthday celebrations.

The box was installed at the Kent Family Hub on Zion Place in Cliftonville this morning. It will soon be filled with books kindly donated by Penguin and all are invited to take a book off the shelf or donate something of their own.

This is one of 90 Little Book Stops being installed all over the UK. Our application was chosen from more than 2000 and we’re delighted to see it now set up in its new home. We’re really looking forward to seeing it in use.

“Books and reading are a wonderful way to build connections and create communities and we hope that our 90 Little Book Stops will enable that in the locations lucky enough to have one,” says Penguin’s Rebecca Sinclair. “We’re excited to work with a community of stewards to connect books with readers and to champion the ongoing power of reading.”

During this year’s Margate Bookie festival, we will be running daily story time sessions for under fives at the Family Hub - the perfect opportunity to drop in and see the little library for yourself.
