Crime Panel

  • Turner Contemporary Rendezvous Margate, England, CT9 1HG United Kingdom (map)

Three crime fictions writers discuss their different approaches to the genre in conversation with Academy FM  presenter Paul Rutters. GD Wright, LV Matthews and Naomi Williams will tell you about inspiration, writing complex characters, and keeping readers on the edge of their seats.

Former police officer GD Wright published his debut crime fiction novel After the Storm in 2024 through HarperCollins imprint Avon. The follow-up Into the Fire, again set in the fictional seaside town of Beachbrook, arrived earlier this year.

LV Matthews worked for 10 years in both domestic and international sales for major UK publishing houses, before leaving to pursue a career in writing. She has always been fascinated by the grit of the human psyche, and what drives people to act in the dark ways that they do.

Naomi Williams started her career teaching English and Drama before becoming a full-time writer. Her first psychological thriller The Woman in Ward 9 was published this year. She also writes family dramas as Lisa Timoney and book club fiction as Kate Storey. Her next thriller will be out in 2026.
